See below for explanation regarding the nature of Proprioceptive Writing process.

Proprioceptive Writing is a simple meditative writing practice that anyone can learn. It was created in 1976 by Linda Trichter Metcalf. She and Tobin Simon have written, Writing the Mind Alive: The Proprioceptive Method for Finding Your Authentic Voice. Proprioceptive Writing is a therapy that uses writing to explore the psyche... a meditational writing practice that has the power to open the heart and clear the mind.

That summer, through the simple writing method we now call Proprioceptive Writing, I reunited my heart and mind. For years, I'd been feeling alienated from myself: my thoughts and emotions were isolated from each other, feelings drifting along their lonely course, unmodified by reason and reflection. This new kind of writing practice seemed to bridge those divides, making me feel vital and whole. It helped me think more feelingly and feel more thoughtfully. --Linda Metcalf

In this workshop, we will write together to baroque music and candlelight in 30 minute sessions taking the emphasis off writing, and focusing on the experience of inner hearing. This is a disciplined practice which can deepen attention and free us to think, write and speak with strength and clarity. For writers and non-writers alike, anyone interested in psychology, meditation and the life of the spirit will find this work encouraging, clarifying and stimulating. But the benefits of this practice go beyond improved writing. People who practice Proprioceptive Writing report increased awareness, confidence, and self-trust; improved memory; a sense of growing intelligence; and burgeoning creativity.

Sharon,  Thank you for leading the Proprioceptive workshop:
"Exploring The Nature of Love", making delicious vegan food available, and providing a safe environment for writing. As you could probably tell from what I wrote, I broke through some serious emotional stuff and identified family patterns I hadn't recognized before in all my growth work.
Thank you.  ~ Lee, Poway
