PERTURBATION THEORY OUTLINE

The Concept of "Cause"

When we turn on an electric light we may speak of the cause of the event in different contexts. A nuclear engineer would think of causes from a different standpoint than an electrician. For example, you turn on the switch and this can be considered an immediate behavioral cause. We also may speak of causes in terms of the filament bulb, the electrical wiring in the house, the wiring to the generator, the generator itself, water flow or nuclear reactors; or one could get even more basic and talk of the discoveries of Faraday, Maxwell, Teals or Edison.

Psychological problems may also be meaningfully discussed from differing causal vantage points such as: chemical, genetic, moral, sociological or "clinical philosophical" (a very useful term coined by Dr. Nathaniel Brandon). My context is that of scientific clinical psychologist.

I am interested in discovering and controlling what I consider to be the basic fundamental causes of psychological problems. My hypothesis is that perturbations in the thought field are the necessary and sufficient condition for the presence of psychological problems.

Basic Theorems of Perturbation Theory

Psychological problems are caused by perturbations in the thought field.

The tendency to have or develop specific perturbations is inherited.

Tuning into the thought field (thinking about their problem) brings the specific field and its perturbations into the body and mind.

When augmented by the energy of the body, the perturbations become evident and can be assessed and identified by a trained perturbation therapist.

Once identified, the targeted corrections remove the perturbations.

"Balanced” means more than merely doing things that one could not do before. People in conventional therapies or hypnosis find that they can tolerate more discomfort than they previously thought they could. They are considered helped but not truly balanced unless there is no trace of discomfort when they engage in the formerly feared situation, or, in the case of addictions, show no trace of a desire to engage in the addiction.

There are three major steps in the development of achieving a complete balance in your energy field: a. there is no upset when thought tuning; b. there is no upset in the actual situation; and c. there is no trace of upset after the passage of significant time with repeated exposures to the problem situation.

When the perturbations are completely removed, there is no trace of problem. For example, our properly balanced clients typically show less fear than the average person who is somewhat nervous in talking to groups, uncomfortable around harmless snakes or bugs, queasy about needles, dentists, doctors, surgery, etc.

It is important to understand the concept of reversal. Once understood, the clinician who incorporates this particular discovery and the correction procedure for the condition will significantly increase his success rate.

“Reversal” blocks treatments from being successful and inclines one to the following symptoms: reverses concepts (says "up" when he means "down"), transposes numbers in series, such as phone numbers, has slumps, becomes self -sabotaging, gets stuck on negative pointless issues, continually dwells on the negatives with no view toward solutions.

Reversal is accompanied by a LITERAL reversal of polarity in the body. This is a palpable and demonstrable effect and is a most interesting immediate example of the effect of tuning into a problem and the simultaneous effects that occur. This literal reversal is responsible for the choice of opposite concepts than the intended, the blocking of the natural healing ability in the body, and will block otherwise effective procedures from working; and is responsible for turning the person's own system against the self (instead of self-enhancing behavior we see self-destructive behavior.)

Mini-reversal is a form of the reversal that kicks in DURING the corrective procedure and prevents healing from being complete.

Most problems are permanently alleviated, once the person has had a chance to test the power of the tapping in a real situation as opposed to just a tuning situation. In the few cases where the problem returns, it is almost always associated with a reversal and can be quickly corrected.

The perturbation corrections follow remarkably regular patterns; e.g., sequence-gamut-sequence. Sequence refers here to the specific perturbations and order.

If one omits the gamut series and the many possibilities of reversal, it can be shown that there remain over 87 billion possible corrective sequences. We suspect that these possibilities are enough to cover most all psychological problems.

Thousands of clinical experiments have shown that the procedures are NOT any of the following: hypnosis, suggestion, placebo, authority based, positive thinking, etc. There is good reason to believe that the fundamental and actual cause of the problem is eliminated.
